Welcome to my personal blog!

Issues will be posted bimonthly on inkstainedclassics.org! If you’re just as interested in the Classics as me or just getting familiar with the topics, feel free to leave a reply at the bottom of each issue! For the first issue, I’d like to begin with an overview of the study of the classics. When hearing the word “classics,” many individuals go straight to thinking about classical music. However, the Classics refers more generally to the history and culture of the ancient world that influence greatly on the present day. This is why I chose the particular name of “Ink-Stained Classics” for my blog. Although the study of the classics may be categorized as the study of the ancient world, it is certainly far from irrelevant and unimportant– stained forever. Classics also has an interdisciplinary nature, which is a reason I personally find this field to be so fascinating. The four main components of Classics include: Latin (notable literature include Virgil, Caesar, and Catullus), Classical Greek (well known authors such as Homer), Classical Civilizations, Ancient History (including wars in Greece and Rome). I will likely focus my blog on the implications Classics has on other subject areas and on Latin with some touches on history.
